FAQ - General Visa Information

Historically, U.S. visa interviews were generally required for applicants aged 14–79, with limited exceptions; children under 14 and adults over 79 were often exempt, though consular officers could still require an interview. Effective September 2, 2025, the State Department has updated its policy: in most cases, all applicants—including those under 14 and over 79—will be expected to attend an in-person interview, subject to narrow exceptions. We will confirm the exact requirements that apply to your case on your appointment date. Regardless of the policy in place, our preparation process remains the same: we organize your documentation in advance and provide thorough coaching (for you, or for your child’s parent/guardian) to ensure your application is coherent, consistent, and handled efficiently at the interview window.

Visa timelines vary by season and workload. After the interview, most approved B1/B2 visas are printed and returned within a few business days; some may require longer administrative processing. We’ll set expectations when booking and track your case until passport return. If your trip is soon, we prepare your file carefully (DS-160 match, photo compliance, financial consistency) to prevent avoidable delays, often more important than the interview itself.

When the consular portal instructs you to submit passports or supporting documents, it issues a Courier-In Authorization. You simply print this slip and present it at designated Emirates Post counters. We take care of the rest—assembling the packet with the required barcodes, checklist, and documents—so your drop-off is fast and effortless. For clients who prefer a more hands-off approach, we provide a concierge service: complimentary document pick-up and drop in central Dubai. Our team organizes everything at our Bur Dubai or Trade Center office and returns the finalized packet to you, ready for Emirates Post submission.

At SUNLINE, we act as your project manager throughout the visa process: from DS-160 completion, photo compliance, MRV fee guidance, and appointment booking, to document indexing, interview coaching, and (when eligible) courier-in support for interview-waiver cases. You focus on your answers—we handle the paperwork. You can meet us at Umm Hurair Rd-Faisal Al Gurg Building office 07, Al Karama-Dubai, Dubai, UAE. For nearby areas, we offer free document pick-up and drop-off; for farther locations, we coordinate a simple courier. Once we receive your documents, your case is assembled the same day, and we keep you updated until your passport is safely back in hand.

If you hold a UAE passport, you still require a B1/B2 visitor visa for tourism or business travel to the United States, since the UAE is not part of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Nationals of VWP countries may instead use ESTA for short visits, but most Dubai residents are not VWP nationals—so a standard visa is the correct path. If you are a UAE resident of another nationality, you may apply in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. We confirm the correct process for your passport type, then handle every step—DS-160, MRV fee, appointment scheduling, and supporting documents—so your file is interview-ready and presented clearly.

The process is essentially the same for non-UAE passport holders applying from Dubai. The key is that your legal stay in the UAE, whether through a residence visa or valid entry status, must be clearly documented. We also ensure your travel and financial proofs are aligned with your personal profile. At SUNLINE, we customize your checklist to reflect nationality-specific patterns observed at the Dubai and Abu Dhabi posts, so the officer receives a tidy, self-explanatory file. If you’re a frequent traveler with prior U.S., Schengen, or UK visas, we present that history in a clear, coherent way. While it never guarantees approval, it can strengthen your case by demonstrating established travel ties and discipline.

Eligibility for an interview waiver depends on your visa history and category, and policies have shifted several times. As of February 18, 2025, certain renewals and categories may still qualify for waiver at the discretion of the consular officer. However, under the updated policy effective September 2, 2025, most applicants will generally be required to attend an in-person interview, with only limited exceptions. At intake, we confirm your exact eligibility and guide you to the correct path—whether that means pursuing an interview waiver or preparing you fully for the in-person interview.

We begin by ensuring your photo meets U.S. specifications, then guide you through paying the MRV fee and booking your appointment at the U.S. Consulate in Dubai or the Embassy in Abu Dhabi through the official portal. Next, we prepare a clear, well-structured application bundle—including your job letter or NOC, bank statements, travel itinerary, and evidence of ties to the UAE—and coach you on how to present your case so your answers align seamlessly with your forms. You will attend the interview in person unless you qualify for, and are directed into, the Interview Waiver or “drop-off” process.

For a B1/B2 visa interview, you should bring your valid passport, DS-160 confirmation, appointment confirmation page, recent bank statements, an employment or sponsor letter (NOC), proof of UAE residence such as your Emirates ID, a compliant 2×2 inch photo, and an invitation letter if you are visiting family or attending meetings. At SUNLINE, we ensure every document is formatted and cross-checked so it matches your declared purpose and travel plans. We assemble a clean, labeled file and walk you through the typical officer questions on purpose of travel, funding, dates, and ties. This way, you can concentrate on giving clear answers while we handle the paperwork flow, making your interview smooth and stress-free.
